Extract of a letter from a parent sent to BPA on 8 May 2013 D has been attending the holiday sessions run by Brent Play Association for several years where we found that not only did he enjoy attending the sessions but came home in a very positive frame of mind. The activities and the mature way you and your team have always supported D have helped his self-confidence and development- which we have not seen at some of the other centres D has attended. More recently the work and mentoring the team are providing D on Fridays is proving to be of real value in helping to address the low self-esteem and serious bouts of depression he has been experiencing of late. Apart from giving D exposure to friendly and constructive environment which he clearly enjoys this has given the family some respite and a chance to refresh our batteries-particularly his mother. In terms of of suggestions-it would be great if your team could organise some sort of basic work experience for young people in D’s age group (16 going on 17) I recognise this may be limited in scope. Hope this feedback is of use for your continuous support with D.
