A STONE CARPET is a washed and kiln-dried (natural or coloured) rounded pebble mixed with a resin. It is applied by trowel onto concrete or other rigid surfaces, such as tiles or ply sheathing, to provide a 4 – 20mm thick screed for floors. Once the screed has been laid, a surface sealer is applied that effectively closes the surface by filling the voids between the stones of the carpet. To give the STONE CARPET its durability, and a mat or glossy finish, a final coat of resin is then applied. The rounded pebble is available in several sizes and hundreds of colours, or one specifically mixed to a client’s design. The finished STONE CARPET floor is a seamless, smooth or lightly-textured surface that offers an excellent compromise between scratch resistance, slip resistance, and ease of cleaning.
