  Café Café is reached through steep olde worlde narrow streets winding up to Harrow-on-the Hill near the famous school. At the top, the claustrophobic narrow streets widen out to a spacious little green. To our amazement on a Friday evening after 8 pm we were able to park right outside.HarrowCafe Cafe is more of an upmarket wine bar than a pub.DrinksAt a 40th birthday party we were given champagne and bucks fizz. One glass per person on arrival. Two more glasses in exchange for little stickers. That's good for the host's budget. It stops people ordering drinks they don't need, putting glasses down, forgetting where they put the drink and taking more. I thought about this. I reckon it means gatecrashers can't help themselves to drinks. And the venue's staff or helpers called in for the evening can't drink glasses of wine. Nor pinch bottles. Nor write down figures they can't read and make a guess and claim twice as many drinks as the number of guests actually warrants. Three glasses of champagne was plenty. One of us was driving and stuck to two glasses of champagne and then swapped the third sticker for orange juice. The other guest (me) was trying to stand upright so I changed the champagne into bucks fizz.FoodGreat food. Trays of party food included pieces of pizza, sandwiches including salmon and cream cheese, tuna, ham; and various things to dip in dips.DownstairsLeft hand room and downstairs bar can be hired for parties. Ladies toiletElegant. Nearly locked myself in cubicle. Circular handle with a cross bar to hold locks with the protrusion you grasp horizontal. When it was time to leave I kept trying to turn the rotating handle down. After what seemed like a very long two minutes, I realised the handle rotated clockwise so the horizontal when shut, to open went up. Ah! Freedom.GentsHow would I know? I suppose another three glasses of champagne and I'd have gone in through the wrong door accidentally. Or been in such a hurry ... but I didn't. OutdoorsSmokers, and the host and hostess, can stand on the pavement outside greeting guests as they arrive early in the evening and leave at the end.
